What You Need to Know About Friendship!

Dear Friend,

True friendship is a precious and priceless treasure. What is the definition of friendship? According to a dictionary, the meaning of friendship is a state of being friends; friendly relation, or attachment, to a person, or between persons. According to Wikipedia, Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. It is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association.

I love the explanation of friendship from Friends.com. According to Friends.com, a true friendship is a relationship that can survive the test of time and remain unconditional. For most people, friendship is a combination of affection, loyalty, love, respect, and trust. The general traits of a friendship include similar interests, mutual respect, and an attachment to each other. To experience friendship, you need to have real friends. FYI, the friendship will not survive very long if only one person is making an effort to sustain the relationship without any help or recognition from another person. I believe this the best definition of true friendship to me.

Friendship is like the Good Samaritan Story based on Luke 10:30-37 - the King James Version Bible (KJV) and the Living Bible (TLB).

Jesus said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho was attacked by thieves. They stripped him of his raiment and wounded him. The thieves departed, leaving him half dead beside the road. By chance, there came down a certain Priest that way, he saw him. The Priest passed by on the other side of the road. Likewise, a Levite when he was at the place, he looked on him and passed by on the other side of the road. But a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him.

The Samaritan went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. The Samaritans set him on his own donkey and brought him to an inn. He took care of him through the night.

The next day, he handed the innkeeper two twenty-dollar bills, and told him to take care of the man. If his bill runs higher than that,’ he said, I’ll pay the difference the next time I am here.

Now, which of these three would you say was a neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do the same.

Friendships should not be based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation; it should be unconditional. The bottom line, a real friendship can be anyone that has compassion for you like the Good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan is a precious and priceless treasure. A true friend should have good morals with love in their heart. A good, loyal friend should have traits such as respect, integrity, commitment, truthfulness, fairness, and trustworthiness with love in their hearts. Be careful, and remember, everyone will not be a true friend.

One of my golden rules is to treat others as you want to be treated with respect, kindness and compassion based on Matthew 5:43-48 (KJV). As well according to John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” True Friendship is a precious and priceless treasure. I wish you the best to have this rare treasure in your life.

God Bless,

Sincerely,
